"According to the RickResource forum, this bass was sold on Ebay back in 2011 and refinished in white in 2012. They also state that the pickups and "other parts were also changed" in 2012. Okay, let's assume all that is true because there is clear documentation and a history trail a mile wide. I can accurately say that this is a Rickenbacker 4001v63. The jackplate dates it to the 50th week of 1998. I do not know if the jackplate is original to the bass. The pots that I can date are from 1997, which would be in line with a bass produced in '98 and the wiring harness looks as factory as you can get. It's clearly pictured, so any potential buyers can get a clear sense of what we have here. I cannot say if the pickups are original to the bass, but they are absolutely vintage reissue Rickenbacker toaster and horseshoe pickups and exactly the ones that would be found on an unmodified 4001v63.
The gold pickguard and trussrod cover are not original to the bass. The original ones would have been white, but I kinda like the funky play the gold has against the color. Speaking of color, what I originally thought was a faded Blue Boy is actually a light and creamy Seafoam Green. Very easy on and pleasing to the eyes in my small opinion. I guess it's just one of those combinations you either love or hate. The tuners are OEM Rickenbackers and look comparable to the tuners I see on other v63's. "
