- This original 325C58 was heavily modified as a lead guitar.
The bridge was replaced.
A stop tail was added.
The Rickenbacker logo tail piece is glued onto the body for decorative purposes only.
The classic Rickenbacker "Swoosh" sound hole was professionally cut into the body.
All the metal parts were professionally gold-plated, although well worn in places.
The pickups are Rickenbacker humbuckers hidden underneath the metal toaster covers.
The pick guard was custom made in a cream color.
The frets were replaced with Jesper EVO gold-colored frets. They are a lot harder than nickel frets and should last a long, long time. I just checked them and there's no wear at all.
All the gloss lacquer was stripped off the fretboard in order to gain substantial depth to the frets for playing lead.
The tuners were replaced by Steinberger 40:1 tuners. Those really were a "god-send" as the extremely short-scale made it impossible to tune accurately without having 40:1 tuners. Having stop-tail and replaced bridge helped immensely as well.
The original color of the guitar was maple, just the same as John's. So I had to pay for two-strippings to get it down to bare wood. However the JetGlo on the primer was not set properly and rubs off way too easily. Recommend having it repainted.
