    This is a wonderful 1977 Rickenbacker 4001 bass in the long-discontinued and sought-after Azureglo finish. Azureglo was available on Rickenbackers from 1968-1984, when it was replaced by Rickenbacker's current blue finish, the modern and metallic Midnight Blue. As the story goes, the beautiful Azureglo finish is based on the color of a 1964 Volkswagen Beetle that was parked across the street from the old Rickenbacker/Electro factory in Santa Ana, CA. That VW would have been "Sea Blue". Color aside, this old 4001 is everything you would expect from an old 4001! It has a thin neck with fast action, a booming neck pickup, and a bridge pickup that can only be described as "Pure Geddy" The truss rods work great as well, as I found out when setting this up. This bass had a mirror pickguard when I picked it up. Actually, it is an extremely high quality piece which I thought looked rather sharp. I'll include it - you might like it! But for originality's sake, I had Tony at Pickguardian make me a brand new white pickguard. For the money, he makes the most accurate and best-fitting Rickenbacker pickguards. This one was a perfect fit, hole-for-hole (as was the mirror pickguard - there are no extra holes to be found). This bass also comes with the original case! I'm asking 1850 OBO for this guy. Upon opening the case, this bass is 100% READY TO RAWK. Don't hesitate. It won't last.
