    "The latest short-lived incarnation of RUBY debuted at the 2012 NAMM Show. My Rickenbacker dealer Chris Clayton (Pick of the Ricks) personally entered my order for my 381V69 Ruby right at the RIC booth, and I was given the NAMM prototype Ruby 381 that was on display at the show - if not THE first one produced, it was certainly ONE OF the first ones. I called RIC after receiving the guitar and I was sent a letter attesting that it was one of the first 381's produced in Ruby. Pretty cool of them! The first Ruby's were a much darker shade - they became much "redder" after a few years, then discontinued ."
