I love my John Lennon signature 12 string ric...well, because it's a John
Lennon signature ric, of course. The fact that I saw the Beatles first
performance on Ed Sullivan in 1964 and dreamed of owning such a guitar for
most of my life is part of it too.
I've played then all. Gibson, Strat's, Tele's, Martin's...but for some
reason a "Rick" always catches my eye. I've been a 12 string player ever
since I saw Roger McGuinn & George Harrison play them in the 1960's.
Apart from their incredible sound, the Rickenbacker "Look" has always
captivated my imagination. The unique slash cutaway, that special inlay
on the neck, the "R" tailpiece, the mapleglo and fireglo finish all seem
to add to the instrument's special appeal. Obviously you share my
feelings. I've enjoyed this page immensly and have booked marked it for
obvious reasons.
I love my 350 Liverpool because of the incredible action and comfort of the
fretboard. I also enjoy the very natural look of the Mapleglo and the
compact and comfortable shape of the body. The fact that it closely
resembles Lennon's first Rick (if I squint a little) doesn't hurt either.
As a recent Rickenbacker convert, I have to say I agree. My 325V63 is
really fun, as are my two others. I don't have to squint as much.
Well I love my Rickenbacker because of the amazing tone, excellent
playability, and georgeous looks. Also when I had the reflective
sticker on it. It looked just like Peter Buck's.
I love my Rickenbacker(s) for the pleasure they bring me with their
wonderful tone and feel, and how my creativity increases whenever I pick one
up.
I love my Rick because of the responses I get from guitar people.
Usually, it's "Rickenbacker. Niiiiiiiiiiice."
or "Ricken-what?" to which I respond, "It was almost $2000." That ends the
conversation right there!
Also, I love my vintage case! It's the coolest case and always turns heads!
Rick-On
Rickenbacker, for the great
tone and versatility, and beautiful finishes and hardware.
Just because.
I love my Rickenbacker because I never realised how well I could play and how nice my playing could sound. But then again, maybe it's not so much me playing the Ric, but the Ric playing me.
With the world awash with Fenders and Gibsons, I dare to be different!
