'Design-Your-Own' Peavey Instrument

Post by firstbassman »

Paul W may not care for this, but I think it's kind of a cool idea:

I designed a beautiful bass for myself . . . for only $2,200.

I think it's cool, Mark!

It's definitely market-responsive, and I see no reason to be elitist about it. You get what you want (within their ability to build and deliver), they sell more instruments, and everybody's happy.

Great idea at a reasonable price. What's to not like?

So how did everyone configure theirs?

Alder body
Quilted Maple top
Clear gloss finish
Maple with walnut stringers (wanted birdseye but not offered though talked about)
Rosewood fretted fingerboard
Black dot inlays
Brushed gold hardware

$2519.99 - okay, I changed to gold hardware!

Great idea - but hardly original. Carvin's being doing this for a long time..... and for a lot less money.

Note that I am not commenting in any way on the relative merits of either brand....

I'll pass.

But the custom color selection is a very cool feature.
