My First Ric: an '07 360 JG

Post by electrofaro »

Hi,

another new Rickenbacker owner! It's an 2007 360 JG. Been obsessed with the 360 for years... (being an R.E.M. fan I might blame Peter Buck?) ...and finally got one 2nd hand through eBay recently.

My fingers are hurting from all the playing I've done this week. I guess I'm compensating for not being able to do so when I'm on holiday next week

I've registered the 0724536 - I'll put a picture up asap.

Cheers,

Werner

Wildberry,
Congradulations! And welcome to the forum.
You just got my personal Fav Rickenbacker. These have got to be one of the most comfortable complex sounding 6 strings out there.
And the Jetglo is really classic.
Great to have you here and tell us about your journey to the Rick purchase.
BTW - What kind of amp are you using?

Congrats, Werner. I just got my first Rick a couple of weeks ago. It's only now that my fingers aren't so sore anymore. I've been playing a lot of guitar, obviously. Ricks...gotta love 'em!

Initially I had almost bought a used "scratched" 330 Mapleglo (was listed for about 750 GBP without p&p) - I had the seller send all kind of pictures to determine if I wanted it... then I did a 360 search and saw it. I got it after about a week or so; I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to take the cheaper 330, or the 360. Had this seller send me a couple of pictures as well.

I paid just under 1600 EUR (total; includes shipping plus a new set of 10 gauge strings). It was listed "as new", which is true, imo.

Worst bit of buying it through eBay was having it shipped from the UK to Holland. I had a couple of sleepness nights while UPS was busy getting it to me.

In the apartment I use a Vox DA5 (enough power to drown the neighbours' saxophone), in the basement storage an AC30 (too much for the storage space, tbh).

All I need to do now is improve my playing as it's definitely not very good

Welcome, Werner.....you've found a great place for all things RIC!
Be careful....RAS is known to set in after a first Rickenbacker purchase. ( Rickenbacker Acquisition Syndrome )

Must be fun to turn that DA5 up and play. Nothing like a low watt amp turned up.
Check out some of the other threads on the forum. I've gotten alot of great music I wouldn't have been exposed to if not for the forum's many
different players and contributions to the forum as so far as Favorite Rickenbacker players, What are you playing on your Rickenbacker, etc. threads like that are always fun to explore.

Yeah! :D

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I hope to be able (time after work permitting) to drop a few lines here and there every now and then.

Hoi, Werner! Welkom bij ons forum.

The Hague was my home away from home long ago, for several years. I enjoyed it immensely.

Yes, please, hang around and support the jetglo lovers.

C'mon, living in the Netherlands and with a 360/6 JG? Does it get any better? Cool folks, great country! Dig your museums. Props to you on your new score, Wilberry. and welcome to the canteen. Best regards.....Goofyfoot.
Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.

May is a nice time to be in Nederland. Is it about time for nieuwe haring?

Uhm, I quite *dislike* haring, so don't know

May's nice, alright, from a spring perspective with everything starting to grow and blossom. Too bad my photophobia keeps me from sitting in the sun (although it's been a chilly month so far). Luckely I got the guitar to keep me busy inside

My first Rick, just a couple years ago, was an '06 360 JG, so I know exactly what you mean and how you feel! Use it in good health!

But be warned: Two and a half years ago I got my 360, and now I have SIX Rickenbackers! They're like Lay's potato chips! (That reference might be lost in the Netherlands, but the point is, it's tough to stop at just one!)
