I agree with Ron, we'd get the best idea of its "true colors" by taking it out to good old sunshine and 5600K light or so.
What does a 12 sound like with humbuckers?? Still jangly or a bit different?
Anyone know?

I've got that 660/12 TP Spec Purpleburst that has humbuckers. It's still plenty jangly, that being a
major function of the basic Ric 12 string set up IMO, but it is a warmer sound somewhat......not as
bright as toasters or Hi gains.

Thanks Craig,
I am contemplating having a RIC with humbuckers converted from a 6 to a 12. So I am curious about the actual sound if I leave the humbuckers on.
Best,
T

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Rickenbacker 660/12 Aqua Marine Experimental Model
Somebody cost me about a grand in the last 5 seconds. Can't wait to get this one.....I'm sure it's gonna look
quite a bit different up close and personal.

Congrats Craig! The collection grows.....

You keep rockin' it hard, Craig.
Now, you need a Chris Squire bass for your collection to be ONE of the coolest.

Re: Rickenbacker 660/12 Aqua Marine Experimental Model
Congratulations Craig on the one-of-a-kind acquisition.
Re: Rickenbacker 660/12 Aqua Marine Experimental Model
Congratulations Craig!! Somehow I knew you would get it.
Re: Rickenbacker 660/12 Aqua Marine Experimental Model
Congrats Craig. The Made in the USA on the TRC looks really bold.
Re: Rickenbacker 660/12 Aqua Marine Experimental Model
Congratulations on aquiring a beautiful guitar, like most Rics I bet it looks even better in the flesh.
I hope there's no one out there just bidding against you to make you pay more out of spite.
It would be cool if Rickenbacker auctioned these guitars direct from their own website, with all interested parties having to register first. That would lessen the risk of shill bidding.
Anyway, congratulations again.
Yeah, it's a difficult one for you in that most of the Ric purchasing community knows that (within reason) you'll probably pay just about whatever it takes to get these special editions, and I guess the more of these guitars you get, the worse (?) the situation could become.wittyair wrote:Somebody cost me about a grand in the last 5 seconds.
