Hey, Kira. Does this obscure Kinks tune sound like a Liverpool-influenced song? I sure think it's got a Beatley/Pacemaker-type vibe...
Predates "You Really Got Me"
The Kinks - You Still Want Me
Re: The Kinks - You Still Want Me
Has more of a DC5 feel to it than it does Liverpool...at least to me. Especially with that chugging feel to the chorus.
Sarcasm just doesn't come through when you're typing...
Re: The Kinks - You Still Want Me
Was Kinks second UK single best thing they did IMO, but it sold so badly that some execs at Pye thir record label wanted to ditch them, fortunately for them someone lese gave the go ahead for a third single You Really Got Me, rest history

Great song! I'm a sucker for this type of thing. The Kinks are probably my third favorite band behind The Beatles & The Beach Boys.
This is an attempt by The Kinks to copy a Beatles formula by including the words "you/me" in the lyrics & title.
This song was designed to reach young female fans...to sound like they're singing personally to the listener,
" You Really Got Me".
It worked for The Beatles..."From Me To You", I Want To Hold Your Hand", "I'll Get You" etc...
BTW, Mick Avory was excluded from this recording in favor of session man Bobby Graham on drums.
