Greetings from the sunny San Francisco Bay!
My first instrument was organ, and I love playing Hammonds. I picked up guitar in high school, and the one I've had since then was an early 50s archtop Silvertone. For the longest time I aspired to have a Gibson ES 175, until I played this guitar. Now RIckenbackers are it. I have recently acquired stewardship of this fantastic Rickenbacher Electro. The owner says this is from 1933! It plays beautifully and the electrics work as they should. I absolutely love the tone on this guitar and the feel of playing it. It's one of those guitars that begs to be played and played well.
I need to change the tuners on it to make it functional. One was replaced with a non-original keywind and the peg is broken off. I am open to suggestions on this repair. Naturally, I would like to keep it as original as possible, but these keywinds are hard to find, and I'm sure any original ones would probably be as fragile as the ones on the guitar, which do not function very smoothly. I believe the best solution would be to use a set like the ones fund here: http://boutique.rickenbacker.com/

Wow, that's nice!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Rickenbacher Electro from the 30s
Dennis -- welcome aboard the Forum. That's a real cool Electro Spanish model guitar.Dennis wrote: Now RIckenbackers are it.
Best of luck in finding suitable parts for your resortation project.
There was an article on Rickenbacker Spanish style models from that era, in Vintage Guitar magazine a few issues back, maybe around January.

It has come to my attention that my webshots account was deleted. My apologies to those who want to see the pictures. I have re-uploaded them to another account.
