Re: My first Rickenbacker: help needed!
Hello again,
Finally ordered my first Rick.
I opted for a brand new current 330 JG, can't wait to receive it.
Thanks to you all for your help! My next move will be to choose a good ampli to play at home. I'll open a thread to get your advices on this too, i'm already kinda lost.
I've heard some good about the Fender Blues Junior but well...
Anyway, i'll post a pic of the guitar as soon as it arrives.

Congrats, Cyril for your purchase! You will like "The Smell" of a brand new Rickenbacker, for sure!
Good wife, happy man !

As to a good amp for home use, try this:
The 330 might sound pretty good through as history has shown.

Re: My first Rickenbacker: help needed!
I'm not even sure i would get it past my front door.
Re: My first Rickenbacker: help needed!
Would this one be better?
Re: My first Rickenbacker: help needed!
To get back on a realistic track, the Blues Jr. would be a good choice, or for a bit more, a RI Princeton Reverb amp, too.
Re: My first Rickenbacker: help needed!
I would highly recommend a solid state amp like a Roland JC-120 or a Fender Princeton Chorus. They are inexpensive (and transportable) jangle machines. My FPC shines with both my Ric 12-strings, not to mention my Strat, my PRS, and my Guild X-170 hollowbody. The Princeton Chorus is no longer made, but you can get a used one for next to nothing (probably in the $100-150 range). If you're a tube snob (as are many here), I would recommend either a '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue or a Vox AC15. (Gary at North Coast Music will replace the Celestion Greenback speaker with an Alnico Blue, for a modest fee, if you choose). The Vox is cheaper, but the Fender is more versatile and much lighter to carry! Plus the spring reverb on the DR runs circles around the reverb on the Vox. Ideally you'll want to audition all of the amps you're considering, with new Ric in hand. Congratulations on the purchase, by the way. I hope you get years of pleasure out of that beauty!

Re: My first Rickenbacker: help needed!
Thanks a lot, guys!
One of my major concerns regarding the amp choice is that i need to keep the volume to reasonable levels: i live in Paris, where flats are small and walls thin like paper.
As much as i wanted a Vox (it was my first choice), they're far too loud.
I guess the 22W Fender Deluxe Reverb would be too?
I tried the Vox AC4 but the sound is not what i expected.
I'm kinda lost there. Maybe i should open another thread to discuss it further?

Hi Cyril,
My experience is that if you keep the amp's volume knob at a reasonable level, you won't have any problems.

Are you looking to keep the tone clean or do you want to get into Distortoland®. Given your description of French building techniques, something with headphones may be your best choice, here.

Mmm...i'm more into clean and crunch. I think I'd rather buy a distortion pedal if necessary. To keep peace at home, I'm also thinking about an iRig HD to practice with headphones on because from what I've seen so far, there are very few amps with headphones plug.
Re: My first Rickenbacker: help needed!
Cyril, you might consider getting yourself one of these AC 30 modelled headphones, fine for practicing!

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the RIC addiction!
I think these little Yamaha THR amps are perfect for small apartments. Headphone out, great tone at low volumes, can be used as a recording interface...

Mmm...Sounds great! I've had a look at the videos on youtube and i've read the reviews.
I was more into tubes but this one might be the right one for me. Seems versatile, very small, headphone out, perfect.
Thanks a lot!
Any other suggestion, anyone?
