Hi everyone! Long time no see.
Yesterday, almost out of the blue and very conveniently while I was supposed to record, my bass started acting funny. It would stop sounding just like that. Almost like when the jack/cable malfunction and cut your signal, except there was no typical scratchy sound (hope I'm being clear). So today I was able to take the pickguard out and found that the neck pickup wire goes just "across" the switch in between the two contacts, and it looked like the cable may be touching the contacts.
So, is this normal? Is that how the wire is supposed to run? Just in case I moved it and added a little tape so that it runs on the side of the switch. It seems to work fine now, but again, when it failed it was pretty much at random.
Any input is appreciated.
Have a nice one everyone!

What bass do you have?
Re: Wiring Harness Distribution
I've had a similar problem in the past - I've taped the neck pickup wire on my Ricks to the back of the pickguard, in line with the route, and make sure it doesn't foul the selector switch.
