I just noticed that the Gretsch DuoJet is down to $999 at MF....even with the price blow-out of a couple weeks ago it was only down to $1299....

They are massively overstocked. My first TR was made in early '04. That's nearly 3 years ago. When I called them to secure return authorization on it (cracked neck joint), I asked if there were many left. The woman on the phone checked stock and laughed. She told me there were a whole lot of them on the computer. So I asked for a recent production one as a replacement. My replacement is a late '05.
I paid $2300.00 for my '59CC (the odd one). At the time (over a year ago) it was a very fair price for a then-hard-to-find guitar. I suspect that the '62s are overstocked, as prices on these have been dropping, but I'd feel badly if the '59s got caught up in this too...snif...

They also had one of these for $400.00:

Yeah, well, pick it up and put some good pickups on it...
I don't know why Fender/Gretsch changed from the single-coil DA2000s to the double-coiled DumBuckers they are using now. I understand that they are changing back, though.
