Adjustable hi-gain pick-ups

Post by steverok »

Hello all, sorry if this has been discussed already, although I did search through this topic section for some info about the new "adjustable" hi-gain pick-ups. Pick-of-the-Rics has a bunch of new Ric's with these pick-ups :

http://www.pickofthericks.com/higain_new.htm

I assume that I can adjust the individual height of each pole piece - is that correct ? Also, is this the standard hi-gain pick-up from Ric now ? Finally, if I order hi-gains from the Ric website, is this what I will get ? Should I expect the same tone, only more versatile ?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

I believe the answer to all four questions to be "yes".

How do I get a pair of them ? They are listed as currently unavailable on the official Ric sight. I am also hoping to hear from someone who has used them.

My 330 came with them. The high E was a little weak in volume so I adjusted the pole up a bit and all is well.

Sorry I didn't monitor this thread ... but I can sell the pickup for $75 ... it is basically brand new from a 2006 4003 bass ... or I can trade it straight up for a 90s 4 pole or 6 pole high gain ...

Anyone have any dead older 6 pole hi-gains they want to get rid of? I'm interested in those....

Yes I still have mine with the toaster cover, and thank you very much for it Jeff. I'm going to be trying it in my 350V63, and maybe in my 4001 copy bass also. I want some more dead high gains though to play with. They work better to modify than the toasters because of how the magnets fit into the bobbin.
