"There Is a Season" box set

Post by JakeK »

Who here owns this box set? I'm interested in it, particularly songs such as "You Showed Me"

The only Byrds albums I own are Mr. Tambourine Man and The Essential Byrds, both of which are excellent. I especially like "It's No Use" from MTM.

I have that box set, Jake. If you don't have copies of 5D, Notorious Byrd Brothers, Dr Byrds/Mr. Hyde, Untitled, Sweetheart of the Rodeo, etc. get the box set. The liner notes/booklet is a nice touch, too with informative notes on the recordings, and essays by each Tom Petty and Roger McGuinn There are even a couple of cuts from the reunion LP The Byrds with some nice material written by Gene Clark.

Yeah, I especially like the box set for all the pics, many of which I have never seen!

Great shot of Chris & Gene at JFK with guitar cases in spring 1965...fascinating contrast with the Navy sailor behind them.

Another great pic shows Roger & David onstage in late '65 or early '66, backlit, with David playing the Jetglo Rick 360/6.
