Walnut 4003 being discontinued?

Post by cheyenne »

Can anyone confirm this? I've read a couple of post's over at talkbass saying that Ric is going to discontinue the Walnut series.

I hope not. I'd like to pick up a 4003SW down the road.

Scott, where on Talkbass did you see that? I've just started lurking over there and I couldn't find anything 'cept for someone speculating that "this would be the only year RIC made them in Walnut..." but the date was mid 2014....
I'd like to know, because I've had thoughts of getting a 4003SW....

Its possible I was reading an old post,,there's alot of old threads drifting around over there. I just thought I'd post the question here and find out for sure. I hope its just hearsay, I think the walnut series deserves place in the Rickenbacker lineup. (4004 series as well).

Lots of noise over there that tends to obscure the signal many times. TB is a cool site but there is way too much misinformation, gossip, slandering, seemingly real hatred for some things, etc., over there.

It better not be discontinued! I just sent off the revised timeline/family tree graphic for the 2nd edition of the book, and it shows the 4003, 4003W, 4003S, 4003SW, 4004L, and 4004Cii continuing on to 2020!

This is exactly why I posted this question here.

This is the definitive place for real answers.

I think the new CITES regulations would encourage RIC to continue with the Walnut/Maple combo.
Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .
