Hi all. My first post here. Just scored my first Rickenbacker, a 370/12. It's only been 50 years that I have lusted after one of these!
I'm considering cutting and installing a modded nut on my 370/12 as my fingers seem to be just too big to fret without interfering with other strings. What looks pretty good to me is http://crawlsbackward.blogspot.com/2017 ... -pt-1.html. Has anyone here tried this and how did it work out for you?
Cheers,
Keith

Cool! Hadn't thought of using brass. How was it to work with?

A gorgeous look too.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: 370/12 nut mod
It was fun, but it took way more time than a standard nut would. The result is excellent though. Somehow the brass goes very well with the 12 stringthark wrote:Cool! Hadn't thought of using brass. How was it to work with?

I think that I'd like to try the brass nut. Where did you source it? Did you make it from scratch or was it a pre-cut nut blank? The few brass nut blanks that I have been able to find look to be not tall enough for the Rickenbacker. The current nut is 1 5/8" x 1/8 " x 25/64" (LxWxH).

I was totally made from scratch. Essentially I copied the Original nut dimensions and then cut the slots for the strings. In real time this last sentence could run up to 3 hours of work.thark wrote:I think that I'd like to try the brass nut. Where did you source it?
