I must be a traditionalist, I just can't get behind a maple fingerboard on a Ric.

It certainly has a different look, and the combo of black body maple neck is nice contrast.
The gold pickguard is another option that doesn't do it for me.

Once again proving preferences are certainly an individual thing. Or maybe I know what I like.

I will settle back into my non-essential traditional self. LOL

Well, maple fingerboards are a minor tradition with RIC, as they were on the early 4004 models, the 4003SPC Redneck, Tuxedo, and Blackstar (albeit painted over), the 2030GF (ditto), the 2020 and 2060, the 4003W, 4003SW, 4003AC, and some of the recent special runs. Just sayin'.

Both of my 4004s (4004C & 4004L8) have maple fret boards.... I really like them. This bass is very easy on the eyes!!!
