Mike Rutherford's Doubleneck

Post by admin »

Information has recently been received regarding the history of Mike Rutherford's doubleneck. The instrument was made by Mr. Dick Knight, a well-known British luthier who passed away in 1996. For more details and photos see the History of Rutherford's Doubleneck
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I just saw a special on VH-1 of Genesis which had some great footage of Mike Rutherford playing his custom-made Rickenbacker double-neck. It is a really great concept concerning its construction. It looks as though it is 1/2 solid-body (bass) ans 1/2 semi-hollow (12-string)..I wonder how different the sound is, taking into consideration all the mods done to the instrument. Is he playing the bass line on "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway"? Great song...does anyone have any more pics they could post of this cool piece???
