Re: The W Series
I'm really psyched about these! The look is distinctive and also somehow very... Rickenbacker. It took me about 5 minutes to plonk down a deposit for a 360/12 W at one of the top stores. Woo hoo!

Falling in Love with Model 300 All Over Again
With a Pro Junior and occasionally a RAT, and I'm finding that this guitar is suitable for Rock, Soul, Psych, and Blues. Also Country!

Re: Sure Wish There Was Something New
I'm certainly not bored because Rickenbacker doesn't have a new 7-string model with a USB output or whatever! But they really could mine the old models and get orders out of me, anyway. It seems a little weird that the current company "can't" make some of the fabulous models they used to. ...

Re: Sure Wish There Was Something New
Stringsncords is so right, though! I totally love the fact that Rickenbacker is its own thing in a very big way, but that doesn't mean they have to be frozen in time and boring. The quality is awesome but I don't think a bit of razzmatazz would go amiss. They certainly don't have to have a hundred m...

Re: New from NAMM: Guild Electrics - The Newark Collection
Agreed on overly-distorted demos! It must be assumed that this will appeal to The Kids... but yeah, through a fuzzbox one guitar sounds pretty much like another! But I think the same thing is at work with today's amps, many of which have way too many knobs and gain stages to really sound good. I hop...

Re: Rick' & Vox amps… the best wedding ?
artisan4: I can tell you that a Matchless Lighting is wonderful with Rickenbackers! All the brightness you can stand if you want it, and very nice crunch is available. It's kind of like a Vox AC30 but maybe a bit "faster"...

They're great! Their later, non-famous songs are great, too.

Re: Mastery Bridge for Rickenbackers in the works
I have one of their bridges for the Jazzmaster and it is definitely an improvement. The standard Rickenbacker bridges can be finicky and on one of my guitars one of the height adjustment screws is in a constant state of unscrewing itself from vibration no matter how I try to make sure everything is ...

Re: Richard Barone
It was Richard who inspired me to get a Rickenbacker. Of course I was a fan of The Beatles, The Who, and The Byrds but as a kid I just sort of gravitated to whatever the local guitar scene was. I think it was at a Bongos show that the light went off in my head that I should check one of those things...

Re: Don't give up on your RICK 12's narrow neck width
Well, all these tidbits are useful and true but it still seems to me that these necks should be wider. I'm sure somebody will tell me that tooling up for this would cost a billion dollars, but, come on... I have small hands and I can deal with these 12 strings but something isn't quite right when pl...

Because there are fakes out there which exceed the real version. Not with Rickenbackers, mind you.

Re: Wild Flag - Rickenbacker 4xx Cameo
One of my top fave records that I had the pleasure to work on was The Magic City, a 1997 record by Helium, which was Mary Timony's band. She writes great songs and is a superior guitar player! Wild Flag really is a Supergroup!

Re: Peter Buck, Mitch Easter & Big Star Info.
And let me say for the record that it's Chris Stamey who really made this happen! He's had the idea for a long time, organized the musicians, and has really, really studied these recordings!

Al Casey
I have just had my mind blown by Al Casey's version of The Hearse, written and produced by Lee Hazlewood! On the insert sheet of the Sundazed compilation, Lost Legends of Surf Guitar, Al can be seen holding a sweeet Capri with what appears to be a Kaufman vibrato, and I think this is the guitar on t...
