Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric

From a lovely daylight gig with my band Bitchcraft. We definately perform better at night or in a club.

Re: Best Amp for a Rickenbacker 4003

You can't go wrong with a Rick and a vintage tube amp.
I was playing my 2030GF through my 1962 Fender Concert Amp this afternoon. It sounds fine through it's own 4-10 speakers but I plugged it into my two new LDS 1106 cabinets; man, this amp has limitless bottom end and great snarl! 8)

Oh, yep ...

Re: Best Amp for a Rickenbacker 4003

I could play my Rick with probably every vintage tube amp, but if it wasn't Sunn I'm actually using, it probably would be Mesa 400+ or SVT. You can't go wrong with a Rick and a vintage tube amp. But in SS matter and hifi tones I can't imagine better choice than SWR SM series. I played friends stack ...

Re: Replacement Bridges - Alternatives?

I've had Hipshot replacement alu and brass versions and both had serious screws and wobbling issues. I play hard with a pick, but I'm positive I can require 100% reliability from a $130 piece of metal.

Now I have Badass II and it's good, but as guys above said, you'll probably need to cover filled ...

Re: Comparison please: Late 80's 4003 vs 2013 4004

My 88 4003 has very thin and flat neck, seller said his 87's neck is way bigger. I played a few days ago on a recent one (not 2013 anyway) and it was pretty slim too, but not as my 88.

Re: Anatomy Of A Rickenbacker Bass Part 6

Thanks, guys. Actually, my friend made shielding for me.
I don't like both pickup together. Will it make big difference if I move neck pickup 1/2" closer to the fretboard, would it mix better with bridge pickup (with .0047 cap?) Also I don't know what bridge tone push-pull pot use, 250 or 500, coz ...

Re: Anatomy Of A Rickenbacker Bass Part 6

Hiho.
I've got 4003, it's serial number suggest it's 1988. Pickups, especially bridge pickup looks weird to me and, to be honest poor, and I don't know if they're original. What do you think?
Harness is OK I guess (except neck volume pot). Tone pots were 500kohm in 1988, weren't they?
Thanks.

Re: how to spot a good 4001/4003

At least I purchased 1988 4003. It was described on ebay by "professional gutiar seller": "The neck is straight, the action is low and the frets are in good shape with plenty of life left."... rubbish. Bass came with 4mm strings action at 12 fret and serious fretbuzz above 15 fret. Neck adjusting ...

Re: new Rick-owner

Hi man.
You must show me recordings with your Selmer amp and cab. They are gorgeous but there's no chance to hear them with bass guitar (what to say about Rick?). I used to own PA100SV and it was really cool...

strange machines placing in 1987 4003

Machines seems to be too close to the edge of the head for me, but I don't know. What do you think, was it normal in this period?

Re: how to spot a good 4001/4003

Thanks for your comments, guys. I guess late 70s or late 80s will be the choice but need to research more. So btw, heavy or rather light ones tend to have better growl, rough punch and clarity?

T28, I haven't seen marked place yet, guess it's because I was not registered. It's my direction now ...
