Thank God someone mentioned Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen. Charles Mingus , Chas Chandler, Dee Dee Ramone , Bootsy Collins and Jah Wobble need many mentions. But it is forever Paul McCartney 1st and Chris Squire 2nd . Jaco and the other flash guys mean nothing. John Entwistle was lucky to join the ...

Squire told me when Rickenbacker first made his 8 string the headstock was set up with all full size bass tuners. Chris explained tuning was awkward and there was not enough space between tuning pegs. Rickenbacker re-fit the bass with smaller sized tuners for the 4-octave strings. Only problem was ...

I have played Chris’s bass several times. It’s neck does not feel shaved. Instead it has more of a 1963 feel. A thinner necked 63. Some of those were very thin in the way Chris’s bass is. It’s a winner. Like all models of all guitars some are better than others and some are other worldly. Chris’s 64 ...

I was around 12 years old when I watched Chris Squire on TV performing Hold Out Your Hand on the Don Kurshner’s Rock Concert show. 25 years later with Chris’s help I got a hold of the only 35mm print of that footage. I had tried for 25 years to get video copies of the TV broadcast with no luck at ...

Last ones seen were 67's and those are very rare. Fewer than in 64. What this 68 could have been was a 4000 with an added pickup but that it isn't. Still if everything else checked out it may have been a custom ordered bass made without binding.

Hey Ken, you're right on. The # was checked with the factory and confirmed to belong to a guitar. It was this fact that I found so offensive. A clear effort to mislead. For the record the guard material was off by a lot, the neck contour was not of the 60's in anyway. The woods used were not similar ...

I went to Voltage to see the bass. There is nothing vintage about this bass except a set of pots dated 68. The bass is a real Hodge Podge. It is clear by the fake serial # that the person who put this pile together had intensions of creating a fake. To make a bass appear like an older model because ...

The racist anti American stuff was shocking. I don’t feel I said anything to antagonize him to that response.

68 Is a transitional year. Three different pickups can appear that year. Some, like the one for sale on eBay, the early type with the thin black plastic top that has the edge raised appear on a very few early 68s. Most others are like the ones in your pictures are greenish with a thicker top. Those ...
