Re: Contemplating a 12 string...
Wow, it's four guys in a row with the same thinking. Yeah, get the one you want and let the more "sensible" alternatives go. As for the extra cost, I always look at the price difference and not the price-tag. Then I ask if the item I'd rather have is worth the difference. Adopting this philosophy ...

Re: My "Limited" Family
So Ron....if you could only save one of the three from a fire, which one would it be?
Now there's food for thought. Got me to thinkin' what I'd do, but come to think of it, this situation did arise. During the 07 San Diego Co. fires we got a reverse 911 call ordering a mandatory ...

Re: First posting and question.
Glad you spoke up, Simon; welcome.
Make sure you understand the many causes of a high action as well as the nasty ramifications of choosing the wrong fix. I always start with a quick check of the neck with a straight edge. Try searching the "Vibrola" forum for Rickenbacker setup information.

Re: It exists, a wide neck 360/12!
Or, you can order a 12-string nut from Rickenbacker, and have a local luthier fit and install it. Rick has made the wider spacing used in 330/12s, standard across the entire range,

With 101 available excuses, they chose to just do the right thing. Classy outfit. I'm glad for you, Rob, and I'm proud to use their products.Mateybob wrote:

Mine hits too and when I first got it I had plans to miter and polish the edge. But then the "If it ain't broke..." adage kicked in and I've not thought about it since.
Ken, MID looks great on a 660. You must be thrilled. Have fun!

Re: That gut churning thud.........
I agree with Tom in that restraint is needed at the top end of the instrument. The rack system looks cool and it's easy to pick up the guitar, but as for safety...?

Re: Letting You Go chords?
Welcome Mr. B.
In my wanderings I don't recall seeing music tabs or chords posted in the RRF so I hope this is ok.
This song is in A but I had to sharpen the guitar about 18 cents to get it in tune with the Youtube video.
These sound right to me; see what you think.

I like you, Jake; you're a gutsy young man. I think this is the best idea. If you can see this through, you will have an instrument that will mean more to you than just good looks and tone.JakeK wrote:I am restoring the guitar OVER THE SUMMER WITH MY GRADUATION MONEY..

Re: Should I take a well-needed break?
Does anyone really think Jake wants to keep one of his mistakes hanging around? I say part it out or sell it outright and add the money to your wages and earn your next perfect guitar. The mental and physical investment will do you good, Jake, and may also not-so-coincidentally help the next guitar ...

It's been 5 months; anyone know how this turned out? If Chris got UPS to pay on this damage he should write a how-to book.

This one sold three weeks ago. -Click- I believe the seller started out around 2.8k with no action. Some may recall the large chrome buttons over the pickguard screws; made the guitar look silly. (FYI, the buttons turned out to be those chrome caps you can put over your car's license-plate frames ...
