Re: Guitar Center Beatle special Ricks
I suppose that makes sense. But I'm pretty sure the GC phone guy called Edina.
I forgot that there were "Platnium dealers" in the GC chain.

Re: Guitar Center Beatle special Ricks
I just spoke with Guitar Center online (called the 800#) who called three different stores in my area (in the Minnesota area) none of whom knew anything about these and one "Manager" went so far as to say they weren't Rickenbacker dealers anymore so no one in the Twin Cities would be carry...

Re: Any "Replacements" fans here?
The one I saw was black with a checkerboard pickguard. It was also pretty punked out. Lots of wear.
Cool story on this one though.
Hoping the Replacements go on tour this year.

Re: Any "Replacements" fans here?
Cool score Mitch! About 10 years ago or so I almost bought Tommy Stinsons old Rick bass from Willies in St. Paul. It was hanging on the wall with a sign that said "pleased to meet me". It was perfectly punked out, worn a lot with a black and white checkerboard pickguard. I still regret pas...

I have one. The only maple necked one. It's wonderful. Absolutely quality craftsmanship.
Mine is the purple one on his website. I ordered it custom from him.

Re: 4003s converted to a 4000
Those are the DR black coated strings which initially I didn't care for but have grown to quite like them.
They sound fantastic on this bass.

Re: 4003s converted to a 4000
No, No Cap Woody but the PU is pretty Hot. I usually only really use the Bridge PU on my Ricks anyway so the 4000 setup seems to suit me.

4003s converted to a 4000
Hey Guys, I recently purchased this 1988 4003s from an awesome Forum brother and it was missing the front pickup. So I did what the reasonable person would do . . . convert it to a 4000! It sounds awesome and I love the necks on these S basses. It is honestly one of the most comfortable Rickenbacker...
