Re: 4000/1/3 vs. 4004 Poll

Had a 2012 Cii briefly and loved the aesthetics but really couldn't get into the sound. It was far too dark through my MarkBass/Barefaced rig and no matter what I did with EQing I couldn't get the Ric Edge I was looking for. I did consider fitting one of Dane's harnesses but in the end I decided to ...

Re: Bartolini 6RT & Ric covers

Aren't the HB1s coil tappable?
Someone will be on soon to suggest a fine harness mod that should work for you.
Btw I didn't get on with them either but being based in the uk meant a little hassle to get the mods done. Out with the 4004 in with the 4003. I did love the bridge on the 4004 though.....

Re: Odd Cracked & Flaking paint 2011 4003

My 2010MID as a few defects but fortunately nothing major. I have to agree with some of the posts above that the adhesion to the red primer does seem tenuous. As a materials engineer I would suspect that there is something in the UV process relating to solid finishes that is very sensitive to the ...

I like it. Then again I'd love the look of a Rick without having to dodge the singer with the headstock on stage.....

Re: Banning of Rickenbacker on basschat uk

This place sometimes resembles a religious sect more that a forum. Maybe I should go register at basschat instead.

You would be very welcome Geir, we are an eclectic bunch!

FWIW I voted no to the ban on BC because I don't think content should be censored but I fully understand the position the ...

Re: Banning of Rickenbacker on basschat uk

I think that this Ric bashing has become "expectable" in many people's eyes, who hide behind a username on a bass guitar forum. A lot of them either don't own one or may have had a quick go of one, which any guitar and bass you can't make a "I don't like these" on trying one instrument. Maybe after ...

Re: Banning of Rickenbacker on basschat uk

Cool! I'd vote for a ban!

When you put a group of people who neither respect nor understand the law together in one place, nothing good comes from it.

Banning the sale and promotion of Rickenbacker instruments on one of the largest bass guitar websites on the internet does not harm them, only ...

Re: 4003 versus 4004

Got to admit, while I love the sounds available from the 4004, I didnt understand why it's fundamentally a little dark on the neck and both pickup positions. It's nothing that can't be dialled out with a little eq but as a long time Stingray player I assumed the tone difference was down to active vs ...

Re: New amp needed - which way to go?

I had a succession of TE 1x15 combos before moving away a couple of years back.....the new ones didn't really cut itsoundwise for me, plus I had had enough of trying to man handle a 35kg lump into a hatchback. After a bit of swapping and changing I've gone down the MarkBass route with a Barefaced ...
