Re: 1970 Rickenbacker 1998??
Hi Collin,
Thanks that’s really helpful and is a step towards solving the mystery.. See attached photo of DA42. The mixer pot date on DA42 is the same as on the 1998 mixer pot - 48th week of 1963. So I’m thinking it’s not unreasonable to assume they’re from the same batch!

Re: Guitars produced in 1970
I've always loved the '69-72 period for Rickenbacker.
The low demand and production of guitars in this era opened them up to some very unusual custom orders and one-offs and low-volume models like the 381 and 331 Lightshow.
1970 is especially low production compared to '69 and '71.

Wow! What a cool guitar! Where’s Collin? He might have some thoughts on this one.
At your service!
Interesting guitar, there isn't a lot of info to go on. Without question, the jack plate is not original to the guitar. Rose Morris exports ended in 1967 and most made that final year looked ...

Re: Höfner files for bankruptcy
While there are a lot more factors in operating and maintaining a healthy business, it’s hard to ignore that Höfner has been riding the Beatle wave for the past 60+ years. And how long can that possibly last? Name one notable player or model since the 500/1 and Paul McCartney.

Re: Chewin' the Fat about Rickenbacker
One of the best parts about Rickenbacker is that they don't constantly change. It happens, but it's infrequent.
But the downside about that is there isn't a constant stream of things to talk about. Those of us who have been on this forum the better part of 20+ years have pretty much dissected the ...

Re: Invasive neck reset
This post was helpful to me as well, so thank you. I was gifted a 1978 360/12 WB years ago. While it didn't need a true neck reset, the neck had pulled away from the body a bit. No shop around here in Ohio would touch it.
Today on 5/8/2025 I used 2 heat lamps and I built a jig and used by bench ...

Re: Amigo Guitar Show
Hi Mike, another local here.
I've been going to both annual Amigo shows in SoCal for nearly 25 years and it's changed a lot in that time.
These days, it's great for selling rare vintage guitars. Dealers will often give you 75-80% of retail prices, depending on what it is.
But for modern ...

Re: Invasive neck reset
Hi,
I'm resurrecting this old thread, hoping the original poster Collin is still around...?
I recently bought a 360/12 and I'm in the process of fixing a few of its issues. The neck has bent a bit at the heel/tenon. I think (hope) it's good for another few years, with a good setup. But it will ...

Re: 6-saddle vs 12-saddle sound
...There is something about the slightly compromised intonation of a 6-saddle bridge on these guitars that gives it a distinctive sound...
People make a similar remark about the traditional Telecaster bridge - six strings but only three barrels. I think I believe it.
It's hard to argue with ...

Re: 6-saddle vs 12-saddle sound
From a "technical" perspective, I can understand why some people appreciate the 12-saddle bridge and THINK they're making an improvement with that.
But consider the fact that every classic Rickenbacker 12-string song you know and love was recorded on a 6-saddle bridge, from Beatles, Byrds and Who ...

Re: Rickenbacker 4005V - British Racing Green
Very cool one, I played this bass at RIC when they first started exploring the 4005 re-introduction. It might be the only one in BRG.
Though I have to say, it looks far better with white plastics than the gold. Just my opinion of course. The white matches the binding nicely.

Re: move from 360/12 to 1993Plus 12
Hello,
I have a circa 2000s (ASIR 2005) Rick 360 12. Have never been very happy with the string spacing. Was planning on sending it to Mark Anquist to go through. Have procurred some toaster pups,12 saddle bridge, Janglebox OB, and after the R tailpiece exploded, a Winfield harp tail piece ...
