move from 360/12 to 1993Plus 12

Post by TBurst Std »

Hello,

I have a circa 2000s (ASIR 2005) Rick 360 12. Have never been very happy with the string spacing. Was planning on sending it to Mark Anquist to go through. Have procurred some toaster pups,12 saddle bridge, Janglebox OB, and after the R tailpiece exploded, a Winfield harp tail piece.

Needless to say there is still the expense of Mark's work. Should I just sell the 360/12, toasters and winfield tp, and get an open box 1993Plus 12 with the wider neck?

I have recently read that the string spacing mod not only sets the strings closer to the fretboard edge (which I knew), but also the closer courses of strings can buzz against its neighbor.

Also It would look more like my 360v64 360/6. I could get away w/ tax for $2800 for the 1993 Plus, maybe better.

That 1 3/4 nut is so appealing and closer to what I am use to on my Guild 12 string acoustic (1 7/8).

Have you played a 1993Plus 12 and/or an Arnquist modded 360/12 to get an idea of the playability you are looking for?

Arnquist mod - No
1993+ - Yes

I like the 1993+

In fact I believe I possibly played the said 1993+ on a visit to the place back in early Dec. It was yes, this is more what I want it to feel like.

Beware of sending anything to Mark Arnquist. He will take ages, potentially do unauthorized modifications on your guitar and quite possibly ghost you without communication for months at a time.

Ask me how I know this….

He’s also had some people’s guitars for over a decade.

I would strongly suggest taking your guitar anywhere else.

Well that pretty much makes the decision for me.
1993+ it is. I’ll post up my 360/12 here once I get the new tp on it. I’ll offer a package price with the unused toaster pups.

Well that is a done deal.

Arriving Thursday.
Ric 1993+ 12. It will replace my Ric 360 12. If anyone is interested in a 2004 360/12 in FG as well as new, uninstalled Toaster pups, PM me.

What's inbound.

Well being the stuff I’m selling and it’s expected proceeds, plus what Mark A quoted me is within $100 of the difference.

I got scared in this post by what someone said, as I could never get him to be specific. Done that before and somewhere there is a Tele body being refinished from sending it to them a decade ago.

The 1993+ plays and sounds great. It gets its stage debut tomorrow.
