Re: Gotta thank the dog.
Nicely done, Dave! Hey, there are 15 more days left in this calendar year to "not buy" any more Ricks. How many more are you going to"not buy"like this one?

Re: New price list effective 12/13/2007
... charactered premium Maple has become overly expensive, mainly through the manipulation of specialty wood brokers.
It makes sense then that the price of the 381v69 had to go up. John, you have always consistently used amazing quilted maple on these, and I am proud to own a recent 381v69. It is ...

Re: New price list effective 12/13/2007
I empathize with you. But I cannot help but observe that It is the job of finance companies and banks to make it less difficult for a consumer to buy a product, not RIC.

Re: Understanding Why We Speed Up the Tempo
My bass clinic guest leader at North Texas State way back in the early Seventies (some old guy named Ron Carter) averred that the bass player, not the drummer, is the foundation of time and tempo. Everyone else, percussionist included, will inadvertently try to lead or lag, but none will succeed ...

I have heard 5/32nds from those who worked with them way back then, but have no original sheet stock samples to measure in fact.

Re: RIC selling one-of-a-kind experimental finish 4003 on eBay!
Great info, Ben! Thanks!! And I will bet that you saw-cut the fret-lines after the inlays are poured, and not before. Would that order change, or would it stay the same, if you went over to CNC-milling the pockets and plugging with pre-cut inlay pieces into the fretboard as you had mentioned before ...

Re: New price list effective 12/13/2007
4003FL, it says, is on hiatus, while others are discontinued. But then again, the acoustics are on hiatus too, right? :)
Well, at least if they say it is just on hianus, then eventually we'll see it again. Acoustics are different - they are still being produced, just by an Extreme Artisan instead ...

Re: New price list effective 12/13/2007
A rise in wood. Huh. :D
Me too - this really gives me a wood too. But seriously, maybe it is only $20 worth of that $1000. But it must be at least some of the increase. Hey, I am trying to be as nice and non-offensive to everyone (RIC and their ilk) involved as possible!!! These days ebony for ...

Re: New price list effective 12/13/2007
Ben Hall said just this week that 5A+ quilted maple had really gone up in cost. With as much as they must use on the 381v69 reissue, I would guess that at least part of that $1000 price increase could be attributable to the continued rise in wood prices.....
Good thing THIS one is already bought ...

"But if Dale says that's how they made 'em (I did not see that post), then I guess at least some were done that way."
I read that in Dale's post, too. He said he was there for the tail-end of the full width inlays. I took that to mean the "transition period" (about March-April 1973?) when the full ...
