Re: AM Reception At Night

Ken_J's post reminded me of a grad school classmate from 15-20 years ago. This fellow was from southern Michigan, and we were in grad school at LSU in Baton Rouge. He figured out that with the better receivers found in an automobile (compared to what most of us probably have in an inexpensive ...

Re: Yes in Asia? (hint hint)

I am excited that they're coming so close to me this time (Walker, MN), so I'll be there. It's just hard to accept that they've been reduced to those types of venues (that particular festival, the Moondance Jam, tends to attract a lot of one-hit wonders and long-buried has-beens: the Spin Doctors ...

Re: ADVICE FOR YANKEES MOVING TO THE SOUTH

Mark, I lived in Albemarle County about 20 years ago. That's also where I heard it used as singular. And "all y'all", although I've heard it used as plural (by a farm boy from...Idaho...who was a student of mine), could also be a regional delicacy, like crayfish/crawfish etouffé.

That's very ...

Re: Stickers on a Hamer 12-string (non-Rick content)

Thanks to both Pauls for the advice. I'm leaning towards it - we'll see what the Mrs. thinks.

The other 12ver that I've thought about is the current TP import model from Waterstone that you mention - there's been both a Cherry Sunburst and an Orange Target model floating around on eBay for the past ...

Re: ADVICE FOR YANKEES MOVING TO THE SOUTH

That's great, except "y'all" is also non-specific as to singular or plural.

Hence the introduction of "all y'all" as a plural form (by Bubba Y. Beauregard, in Stone Mountain GA, at 6:10 am on June 13, 1947, while herding his flea circus).

I must have lived in the wrong part of the South - I ...

Stickers on a Hamer 12-string (non-Rick content)

Paul:

Since this is a finish/refin question, I hope you don't mind me posting in this area, rather than in the non-Rick specific threads.

There's a Hamer Chaparrel 12-string for sale on eBay this week (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160247246201&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab ...

Re: ADVICE FOR YANKEES MOVING TO THE SOUTH

As to the proper use of "y'all":

When I was in grad school at LSU in Baton Rouge, I had to prove reading comprehension in two languages other than English, so I took a couple of seminars in the Languages Departments (one in German, one in Latin). The Latin Professor (a California native) told us ...

Re: Shipping from Canada to US

What about having someone from the US side of the border, but close to Winnipeg, drive up there, pick it up, drive it back to this side of the border, and ship it? I would volunteer, Dr. Bob, but my wife is due with Baby #5 any day now, so I don't dare leave town for more than an hour or so.

Re: It's here!

Thanks, everybody, for the kind words.

As to the "limit", I showed this thread to my wife. She's not laughing (well, at least not on the outside - she's trying to keep a stern exterior)

Re: It's here!

Very nice! When I read your first post, I was concerned for cracking, but I see you were fairly cautious. But if the case and bass had been outside all day in the truck and you opened it, even the brief time you had it open would have been enough to have it crack. For future reference...

Enjoy ...

Re: It's here!

Because of the cooler weather, I didn't leave it open for more than about 10 seconds (although neither the box nor the case was particularly cool to the touch, I didn't want to take my chances with finish cracking). My camera, as you can tell, isn't that great, so I hope Jake doesn't mind if I post ...
