Re: 4001 electronics - n00b questions.

I use an adapter that was supposed to be TRS to 2 TS. But as per usual I was way to stressed to properly check so I might have got the wrong one.

Re: 4001 electronics - n00b questions.

The treble pickup works just fine in both switch down and center position. I do get a hair of the neck pickup in center but as soon as I switch over to just hear the neck pickup my bass goes dead.
Does this occur while using the mono (standard) output jack? If so, it could just be dirty/oxidized ...

4001 electronics - n00b questions.

I decided to start playing around with using a LS-2 for combining the rick-o-sound signals.
But I'm pretty convinced that a previous owner has been having a go with the electronics.

Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?

I use a EBS Reidmar and 2 1x12 EBS Classic cabinets nowadays.
Used to have a Mesa 400 (non +) and a Marshall DBS 4x12. But carrying about 110kg of bass amp is not my cup of tea anymore.

The EBS rig is perfect for my needs. It's clean sounding and handles both the bass and any pedals I use without ...

Re: I got a free ROS box.....

Not done on a 4001, but Led Zeppelin's, "Heartbreaker" features JPJ using tremolo.

Yep! I almost hear sort of a Leslie effect on that one.
Jimmy Page played his guitar though a Leslie sometimes, so maybe JPJ gave it a whirl.

:D
But on topic I'm pretty sure I read that JPJ played through his ...

I don't think I ever even seen a 4004 in Sweden. Would love to try one out though.

Yet another newbie!

Hi all!

Noticed that I forgot to formally introduce myself. I was so exited about my 4001 I jumped straight into the basses thread.

So who am I.
Well I'm a 34 year old swede that has been playing since I was 9. Up until a year ago I was touring a bit with smaller/mid-size bands in Europe. Amongst ...

Re: Just picked up a 1977 4001 in oh so lovely cream!

Welcome, Daniel! Nice 4001! My first Rick (Whitey) looked just like yours when I bought it back in 1982. It's a great bass and I still have it. Enjoy!

If it needs a new nut, I'd recommend finding a good luthier that can make one for it using the original as a template. The new 4003 nuts are little ...

Re: Just picked up a 1977 4001 in oh so lovely cream!

Congrats, and welcome . . . yes; the (aged) white/black trim style sure has a special allure to it.

It looks to be in really good shape, too -- true? How's the neck?

It's in great shape. A few dings and bangs but nothing out of the ordinary on a 37 year old bass :)

The neck is actually a lot ...
