Seems like a good guess. My lefty 1978 4001MG looks identical to the one in the picture excepting of course it's left handed and I have the pickup cover on mine. I'll go with the 1978 guess as well.1978 4001MG

Re: SoCalCon2008 Pictures
Let's hear how Erik sounds through his bass rig. These are the three songs his band Bridgework played. I like the tone he gets plus that green Rick of his is so-oo beautiful. My favorite song here is the last one "Jumping Off The High Bridge", although they are all good. I like the way the guitar ...

Re: SoCalCon2008 Pictures
Working on it. Will post some more when I get off work. The first one I uploaded was OK but now I am having some problems with the sound level pumping. It's fine on my computer. Gotta figure that out.Melissa wrote

That's OK. Considering who was on stage, that was actually funny (now that I get the joke).Kenny wrote:

Re: SoCalCon2008 Pictures
That's just great! Is it possible to look any more foolish? I doubt it! Kenny did say he was John (obviously assuming everyone knows John Hall). I didn't know what John looked like. I still thought the songs were great even though I didn't know the CEO was the bass player.

Re: SoCalCon2008 Pictures
Hello, all. Back from my first ever Rick Resource confluence on Saturday and it was more fun than I imagined. I've managed to post a video of one song that Kenny's band performed last night. I'm terrible with names (I think Kenny's the one on bass) and now I can't even remember the name of the band ...

Re: So Cal 2008
OK, this is sounding like too much fun for me to ignore. I'm only an hour away so I think I'll come by instead of lurking here as usual. I'll bring my only Rickenbacker (a LH 4001). I've never seen any left handed Rick guitars in person so that would be cool if there are any there. Can't wait to ...

Re: 4001 Update
Thanks. I thought those black knobs were a vintage feature. They do look cool, that's for sure. I might want to get them for my bass. I feel kinda stupid though because I looked right past the first pics.

Re: 4001 Update
That sure is a nice looking 4001 MG. My 78 originally came with a black tipped switch. It broke and was replaced with a white one by the guy who did the repair. I kept the original part. You can tell the white one he put on is not original by the fact that it is a little bit shorter in length. I ...

I've been using Fender flats on my 78 4001 for over 20 years. There is a negligible amount of tail lift visible. I never even noticed the tail lift until reading about it here so it may have been around a long time. I did become concerned that the high tension would cause the tail to lift even more ...
