Re: June 73 JG on the 'Bay

Hi Matt, here's my June of 1973 4001, it's a slightly different shade of color. Are you sure you want to sell that? they only made the CB/small inlays for about three months, something to think about.

I thought about that before I decided to list it. I finally decided that I simply have too much ...

johnallg wrote:Matt, the first sentence of your description has 1979 and not 1973 - you may want to correct that if you can. Beautiful bass.
Thanks for the heads up on that. I fixed it.

June 73 JG on the 'Bay

Hello all -

I wanted to let everyone know that my June 73 JG is on the 'Bay. I had intended to offer it here first, but somehow spaced out and forgot. If a forum member is interested, we'll work something out.

The bass is extremely nice and very original - I bought it from the original owner about ...

JPS --

The LP is an early 70s model, originally had mini humbuckers, I have owned it almost since new, have changed pickups several times over the years. I installed a set of zebra Duncan 59s in the late 80s and have been happy with that ever since.

It's not anything special collector-wise ...

Mark, re the cap on the 73, answer is, I don't know. I suspect it is still in the circuit because it sounds like it is. I haven't checked and probably won't. I generally don't modify instruments at all, just play them the way they come.

I have two setups - for large or outdoor venues, I use a Trace Elliot all-tube 220 watt top through a 2x15 bottom and a 4x5 "brite box". Kicks *ss. For club work, I use a solid state Trace 4x10 combo with a horn. No complaints about bottom end on that one either. I get tons of compliments about the ...

My '71 (stolen summer 05 - RIP) had a super thin neck, no structural problems. I loved it. Just got a one-owner 73 JG, very similar!

And now for something completely different - I'm a Trace Elliot guy. One of the 1-15" combos (NOT a Commando) would probably work in that price range, or a 2x10.

I'm reasonably sure there won't be a Martin Fogerty model either. I watched him smash a D-28 (I think) to bits after getting PO'd that it broke a string during "Who'll Stop The Rain". It was at Little Rock, Arkansas' Riverfront Amphitheatre about 8 or 9 years ago. He seemed ****** that he had 2 or 3 ...
