Thanks for a lot of info that was posted on this speaker issue. I've settled on 15's as ``ideal`` speakers for me...

Had a gig last night with the band. We rented a space with some equipement. There was an Ampeg head with a 4 x 10 cabinet. I started with this...and did not get low end again...But there was an amp nobody used, with a separate 2 x 12 cab ( old Fender I think ). I plugged this second cab in the Ampeg and placed the 2 speaker cabs opposite corners in the room...Whew !! Now it was something !! Everyone was almost mad at me...``you're too f.... loud``!! I was in heaven !! Even if these were not ``top equipement`` I got tons on low response and ``room filling`` sound...So the 2 cabs idea is a great for me....

Anyone has similar experience with using 2 cabinets ??

I think it all depends on what 4X10 cab you use. An Ampeg SVT410HLF 4X10 cab has plenty of bottom IMHO. My Ampeg 8X10 cab almost has too much bottom. It really depends on how the cab is designed. I used to use a Hartke 410 and an EV 15B on the bottom and it had just about no bottom. I switched to a GENZ BENZ 1-15 cab and it was like night and day. Nothing matches my SVT 8X10 though.
....Did you feel it?....I felt it!

I have two setups - for large or outdoor venues, I use a Trace Elliot all-tube 220 watt top through a 2x15 bottom and a 4x5 "brite box". Kicks *ss. For club work, I use a solid state Trace 4x10 combo with a horn. No complaints about bottom end on that one either. I get tons of compliments about the tone of both!
