Re: Humbucker Installation

I know this thread is almost a month old, but I have a question about installation of the HB-1 in my 360... In my 330 I reconfigured the controls into a Les Paul configuration, so that the humbucker I installed in the bridge wired directly to the bridge volume pot and the switch, but with my 360, I ...

Re: Humbucker Installation

I will definitely take your advice and make sure the blue/red wires are correctly wired, because even if I don't utilize the options, it would be dumb not to have them at my disposal for a five minute wiring job. So thanks for the information! It will be put to good use.

Re: Humbucker Installation

Well, I was going to wire it myself, but as a gift my wife thought it would be nice for me not to have to do it myself as I have very limited room to work at home. Mistake! Anyway, I can switch the red and blue wires after the holidays, no problem, so I might as well, but I'm still giving the .47 a ...

Re: Humbucker Installation

I actually went back and did the wiring myself when I put in the 500k pots, I'm out of town, so I'll have to wait to double check if I wired the blue or red to the hot, I honestly don't remember. the guitar sounds great as is, I did leave the .47 in for now, because I currently like the way it ...

Re: Tuner Question

I've checked out the specs as far as post diameter and they are the same, and I've seen 330's with both full size Schallers and full size Grovers before, so I think there's plenty of room for the heads. Stew Mac sells Schaller replacement heads, but only in the more "unique" materials.. black, opal ...

Re: Gibson Dependable

The weird thing is that his auction prices are pretty fair, with the exception of Rickenbacker parts , they are not are auctions, they're always set prices... But let's be real, we are a captive market when it comes to vintage parts. Hate it, but necessary evil if you need the real thing. I've never ...

Re: Tuner Question

Or does anyone know if the large size heads will fit on the mini bodies/shaft?
Thanks!

Re: Humbucker Installation

Oh, there is A LOT less noise, it's installed correctly, I think what it comes down to is that the pickup is brighter than all my other guitars (which are all humbucker equipped Gibsons) so I noticed it more with the Rick. After checking, it actually happens with all my guitars (it's just not nearly ...

Re: Humbucker Installation

Now I'm dealing with the age old universal problem that the guitar makes a little noise when I'm not touching the strings or any chrome... I'm thinking it's bad power here at the old apartment as the amp already produces hum on it's own, because to the best of my knowledge everything in the guitar ...

Re: Humbucker Installation

Well, a bout of insomnia kicked in after my 4 month old woke up, and so I just decided to go ahead dive into a project and put the 500Ks in myself... Wow, what a difference, Cole you were absolutely right, they changed the tone of the pickup dramatically.. It went from an alright sounding mid-rangey ...

Re: Humbucker Installation

Hello Cole,

I wondered if you were going to read this, I did buy the 500K CTS pots as you and others suggested but was very surprised when he said that Rickenbacker said that the HB-1s were meant to be direct drop ins for a high gain. I still haven't found where he got his information ( for the ...

Re: Humbucker Installation

No not looking for harshness.. Maybe I am just being a little (maybe a lot) OCD about hearing any darkness or "mushy-ness" that seems to get mentioned when replacing the humbuckers without also replacing the pots.. I've only spent a couple hours with the guitar since getting it back, but I was just ...
