Re: Who's still waiting on a 4003S?

not sure what the delay is about as MF has them in stock all the time. Also, RIC doesn't require deposits from its dealers; your cash has been held by the dealer for a good deal of time.

Re: Used Rickenbacker prices

Try Mr. Music in Allston. They were the first Ric dealer in the Boston area and seem to get a good supply of them in. I've been buying mine from them for years. You won't see them in stock as they typically go to preorders.

Re: Used Rickenbacker prices

There also aren’t a lot of variations from year-to-year in the (non-vintage period, non-limited edition) bread-and-butter models, such as the 360, 4003, and 330. So, if I’m in the market for, say, a 330 then I can just as easily buy one from 1997, 2007, or a new one this year based on price; there ...

Re: Used Rickenbacker prices

I also think the availability of the 4003s model, which can often be purchased new at under $1300, has cut into the value of used 4003 models. I bought a new 4003sw late last year for less than used 4003 basses were selling for.

Re: Rickenbacker, betting on the past to ensure their future

This is a very interesting thread.

Rickenbacker serves a niche market within the vast musical instrument market. It is an outlier in terms of being a family owned and operated USA-based manufacturer. They’ve resisted offers of buyouts from the BIG GUYS as well as resisted offering lower-priced ...

Re: RRF activity

I've stuck my neck out a few times on RRF. I remember one thread where people were complaining that truss rod wrenches supplied by RIC were too fat to properly seat on the nuts of some new basses as there wasn't enough side-to-side clearance. People were advised to grind down their own tools to use ...

Vintage Rick-O-Sound?

I recently bought this well-used Rick-O-Sound splitter online from a music shop. Upon delivery I noticed that it seems like an older unit. The silver cable has the writing "COLUMBIA FLEXLINE 1323" printed every 12 inches or so and enters the pop-riveted unit via a black strain relief "donut". From ...

Re: can't adjust truss rods on 2015 4003 basses

I think that's fine as long as there is a commercially available tool that will fit the truss rods for this model. I sounded like the wrenches available from the Ric dealer didn't fit, so that the solution was to "grind them down" until they were the right size.

Re: can't adjust truss rods on 2015 4003 basses

I consider this to be a flawed design if one has to resort to conjuring up their own tools to adjust a truss rod. Ric really should ship a compatible wrench along with the instrument. Otherwise, I'd consider sending the instrument back.

Re: Would you have bought this 360/12 for $999?

It just arrived. Opened the case and checked out the serial number. It's a 2014 model. Guitar is clean with no signs of wear. The case is missing the warranty card and tools. The case itself doesn't have any scratches or scuffs. I wonder if it's a replacement given the damage to the neck?

The neck ...

Re: Would you have bought this 360/12 for $999?

Thanks for the insight. The guitar is being delivered tomorrow and I'll have the serial number then as well as some detailed photos of the instrument + headstock repair. Nothing about this makes any sense but with a 3 day approval period and money back guarantee I just couldn't help but pull the ...

Would you have bought this 360/12 for $999?

Ok, so I wasn't specifically looking for a "new" Mapleglo 360/12 online on Friday afternoon, especially one for $999.99. But there it was on the used instrument section of guitarcenter.com. As many of us would do, I called the store to get the lowdown on what looked to be an unused instrument at a ...

Re: Do you insure your instruments?

I'm a renter, and renter's insurance policies have coverage limits that will no way pay for a loss of my guitars and basses. So, I pay extra for separate endorsements for each of my instruments. This additional coverage is relatively inexpensive and mine covers loss and damage both in and outside ...

Re: Reliable Source for Rickenbacker Production Totals

Thank you for your reply! When I added my instrument to the Register a few weeks back I was pleasantly surprised to see so many other 335s of the same era represented on the list. The "10%" rule enables me to extrapolate based on the Register counts; the precision is good enough for my purposes as I ...
