Re: Why Did You Let Your Rickenbacker Go?
I have only sold one Rickenbacker but it was in a trade to Al Cisneros. I got another Rick in return. I sent him a 5er, which I stopped using and got a 4004 which I always wanted. I love the sound of the 4004, but not the neck. That would be the only current Rick that I would consider letting go. BT...

Re: Rickenbacker, betting on the past to ensure their future
RIC is a much smaller company than Fender, Gibson etc. They seem to be proportional in who plays them. If they currently are at capacity why change anything. If in 10 or 15 years they drop in sales, then maybe give some to the then current players. Who knows what the music scene will be like in that...

Re: Humbuckers For 4001/4003?
I had HB1's in my 4001 for a time. What I did for the bridge pickup is have Pickgaudian make me a small cover with a hole cut out for the pickup and matched the 4 screw holes of the surround. It worked perfectly. When I went back to original it was easy. I'll see if I have a picture of the bass.

My Walnut was the same, but the luthier at the store I bought it from fixed that and now it's perfect.

Not my Ric but I also play a 4 string tenor guitar tuned in 5ths like a mandolin or mandola. CGDA, or GDAE.

Just watched this last night. Much better than I thought it would be. It ended and setup a new movie scenario. Looking forward to the next one.

Tone is truly in the fingers and technique. Sure the bass either has it or it doesn't, same for the amp, speakers, effects etc. Rickenbacker Basses are extremely versatile in vesitile hands.

Re: What about an app?
A mobile app would be nice. It still works on a smart phone, but's not ideal. These days on on my phone more than I am a computer. I've used Taptalk, but it's not perfect either.

Not sure what an ABM bridge is. Here is what mine looks like. Is the Hipshot a direct replacement with no extra holes to be drilled?

George,
Not sure what you mean by the tension on the neck. It's almost dead straight.
