Re: Time for New Strings

Thanks for the reply...

It makes a ton of sense to me to go really light on the G string octave as you have.

If you go with the standard RIC gauges they use 10's on the high E AND on the G Octave which is 3 steps higher than high E...

Very easy to break and way too much tension on that G Octave ...

Time for New Strings

Hi Everyone...

I need a new set of strings for my 360/12

I've been through stock RIC sets, Pyramid Gold (the ones that have too much tension and bow the neck) and a mix-match set of Thomastik-Infeld

I like the flatwound sound and the Thomastik's were good. Seems like they are really expensive ...

Re: String Slide Mystery (Exploding R Tailpiece)

Mystery Solved!
The R Tailpiece broke. I've heard of the dreaded "Exploding R Tailpiece" but never thought it would happen to me. (I never had a problem with my '66 when I owned it in the '70's...)
Are exploding R tailpieces covered under warrenty, or do I need to buy another one?

The exploding R ...

Bob Warford still owns and plays that old white Tele...once owned by Clarence White and Buck Owens

Here's a picture of Bob showing it to Fred Stuart out at Gramfest a couple of years ago..

Re: New Cover Track "Bag Full of Money"

Hi Jim...

I just left-click on them and they play. Alternatively you should be able to right-click ro download them. Have you tried these without success?

New Cover Track "Bag Full of Money"

In a continuing series of coast to coast recording collaborations

Mike McCullough and I have completed a new recording via the internet. The track?

"Bag Full of Money" by Jacques Levy and Roger McGuinn.

It showed up as a bonus track on the Byrds final CD Farther Along and also on one of Roger's ...

Check out this cover that a friend Mike and I did of this great Byrds song 5D. Mike did the fabulous vocals and harmonies, 12 string acoustic and mixing. I added a mandolin backing rhythm and lead outro ...

Wow well I'll be...neat pics and RIC!....so that means that the guitar was converted to MapleGlo by Rickenbacker at the factory?

I still wouldn't sand my FireGlo RIC though...I'll keep hoping RIC comes out with a MapleGlo.

Sanding did occur to me but, would be a REALLY bad idea since

1) it would destroy a limited edition RIC
2) the FireGlo finish is actually partially stained into the grain..sanding woudn't really be possible.

The 360/12CW is more of a Byrds guitar (in construction) than the McGuinn RIC ...

What will be next for RIC?

My vote is ...how about a MapleGlo version of the 360/12 Carl Wilson LE...as a standard vintage (1965 era) style 360/12? Just make it exactly like the 360/12CW except in MapleGlo.

I want one of these bad!!
