Actually I just picked up a '75 4001 off of Gbase for $1200. I have to admit, it's not as mint as the one shown above, but it's still in great shape. The neck is flawless and the body is perfect except for some minor buckle rash. The only drawback is one of the previous owners tried some different ...

Well, I'll find out next week what I come up with. I pulled the trigger on a '73 4001....at $865, I couldn't help myself. You can check out the picture on the "I Have a Chance to Buy a '73 4001" thread. This whole purchase has now got me hooked on this forum. I think I'll hang around here for awhile ...

The serial number the seller gave me puts it at November 1973. I'm excited about getting it. I had a white 4001 in the mid to late 70's and I have to admit it was probably the most beautiful bass I ever owned (it's long gone). I never got the sound I was looking for, but then again, I was just a kid ...

Let me try the attachment again. I can't seem to get the image small enough to fit.

I Have A Chance to Buy a '73 4001
I just received notification that I have a second chance to buy a '73 4001 (JetGlo) that I bid on e-Bay. I'll be able to pick it up for $900 shipped. It appears to be in good shape, although some of the parts have been replaced with Ric parts (pots, switch, one pick up). How is the market for these ...

Nut Width
I apologize if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find a definitive answer when I did a search. I see the current 4003 basses measure 1 11/16" at the nut, I owned a 4001 back in the mid to late 70's and I swear the neck was narrower than that. Did the neck become wider at some point, and if ...
