Paul Weller's Rickenbacker up for auction at Christies

One of Paul Weller’s Rickenbacker guitars from his time in The Jam is going under the hammer at the Christies Pop and Rock Memorabilia sale in London on 10th July 2008. The guitar that’s being auctioned is the “I AM NOBODY” fireglo Rickenbacker 330 which Paul used on the 1977 tour of the USA, includ...

Re: What amp did Paul Weller use?

Just picked up this thread. I know exactly what colour guitar Weller palyed at CBGBs (late 1977) because I own it! It's a fireglo 1974 Rickenbacker. It's the one that went on to have "I AM NOBODY" scratched into the paintwork. Checkout out the following youtube clip of the Weller playing S...

I've just done a back to back comparison with my Janglebox running on a battery vs power supply (i'm using a Dunlop DC brick with a polarity conversion cable) and it sounds much better using the battery!

I reckon that you have the wrong case. I've checked mine and my 350v63 fits snug into the case.

They sound pretty similar to more traditional rick 12 strings (360, 370). I've got a 355/12JL (basically a 350v63 but with the signature) which I use for recording and I've alway been knocked out by the lush sound that I get. Mind you, I'm using a Janglebox too and that really does add something to ...

Tony - my one is a 2003 model. I used to have a 1997SPC and the 350 is much more powerful.

Lou - I use gauge 10 Rickenbacker strings on it. The set-up on it is really good - it virtually plays itself !

I play a 350V63 too and they are such under-rated guitars. The toasters on my one are really powerful - they give the Hi-gains on my 360 a run for the money. Here's a picture - I've had this one for about a year now:

Yes - I sold mine a couple of years ago on eBay to a German guy. I only sold it so that I could finance the purchase of another Ricky - a 1997SPC. It's addictive !

How about turning this into a proper event: some live bands, stalls (personal and commercial collections - maybe an opportunity for Mike Smith to do some face-to-face business ??) etc. I know Tony has an established live band as do I ( www.smallworldnet.co.uk ). I'm sure there are other UK "Ric...
