Re: 4003 Truss Rod cavity

Does it have a split pickguard? IIRC, early 80's 4003's had the split PG to allow for easier access to the hairpin adjustment nuts at the body end. Mid 80's is when RIC changed to the new double-threaded truss rods accessible under the TRC.

Are the two channels you are seeing under the PG long and ...

Re: Was the 80's a good time for 4003's?

FWIW, I've always liked the fatter horns on the 80's bodies compared to the much thinner horns on current models.

Re: Selling a vintage Rick bass -experiences?

I'm a noob in the Rick game and know more about quantum physics than I do about vintage Rick's. However, I wouldn't part with this bass unless it was an extreme emergency. I really believe you will regret it. My .02 anyway.

Re: Greetings from Oregon

Greetings from another Greg from Oregon. 70's 4001's are my thing but if Ric ever makes a new walnut 4004 I'd probably pull the trigger.

Greg, from Salem! Born, raised in Salem and currently work there. I recently moved to Dallas.

Are you in a band which plays locally?

Cool! and nice Snowglo ...

Re: My First Rick Experience

I'm not sure, but the blue looks a little bright for Azureglo, 'course, lighting, etc. has a lot to do with how a picture looks. Then again, the only "official" reference I've got is my '76 4001 Azureglo, which, with 40 years of ageing probably doesn't have it's original color either.

We'd all love to see a photo of that bass! :P

IIRC, this bass is a refin. Damn cool one if I must say. I like the color almost better than AzureGlo. I have a 2013 3003 midnight blue with a goofy neck that I will trade plus a huge wad of cash on your end :lol ...

My First Rick Experience

Let's rewind the clock to spring of 83. I was a junior in HS, and was an inspiring bass player who just a couple years earlier heard Rush for the first time. Cygnus X-1 to be specific. Instant addict of not only Rush, but that distinctive Rick tone.

So, my best bud, neighbor, and guitarist in our ...

Re: Rick O Sound clone (Rich E Split)

FWIW, I just placed an order for a Rich-E-split box to replace the inexpensive wye cable I've been using. Hopefully this box will reduce some of the noise.

Plus, Rich is a local Oregonian and a Duck fan, so he can't be all that bad!

Re: Greetings from Oregon

I searched the register and found my basses. I guess I don't have to worry about receiving an email confirmation.

I was not aware that one got an email confirmation. They are in the database once you hit "enter" with the info. They only become publicly visible and searchable after they have been ...
