I have different answers for guitar vs bass.

I grew up with the Beatles but never was into what kind of gear they played. I got into prog rock as a teenager and became aware of what a 4001 was from Chris Squire. I loved Squire's tone and style but it wasn't how I wanted to sound. When I made the ...

The 'Bungalo Bill' intro is indeed a mellotron sample. I have a King Crimson collectors club release...or it might even be the official "Epitaph" box set...anyway, it's a live recording from 1969. In the midst of a typical doom and destruction King Crimson composition, the Bungalo Bill intro comes ...

Congratulations Ricardo, that's a beautiful FG. I recently got a midnight blue 620/12. I woke up in the middle of the night the first couple days and just sat and stared at it. Those Rics can call you out of a deep sleep at 3am!

Thanks for the info, I hadn't considered the drawbacks you both point out. Definitely makes it not worth the time & trouble to switch it back & forth.

Larry, I do have a beautiful midnight blue 620/12 holding me over until my 360/6 Blueburst arrives http://archives.rickresource.com/clipart/happy ...

360/(12-6) vs 360/6

I was comparing the specs on a 360/12 vs 360/6 and it appears the neck dimensions are identical. I'm wondering if you removed the octave strings from a 360/12 to create a "360/(12-6)"...would it sound/feel just like a 360/6? It would be more versatile because you could string it as a 6 or 12 ...

At one point, Fripp says "We've had a lot of requests to play louder...if I might make a suggestion, you might try listening more attentively."

I have a vinyl King Crimson boot from Arlington TX on the '74 tour. Fripp uses the same line...I guess it's timeless ...

Good point. A "composition" sounds so much more serious. Like "Why Don't We do it in the Road" is a song but "Revolution #9" is a COMPOSITION Image

I'd say Revolution#9 falls under song definition #3: there's a lot of words and music in there, some even backwards and inside out http://archives.rickresource.com/clipart/happy.gif

Definition #4 seems to cover things like "Musique Concrete", John Cage's 4'33", etc. Zappa once said: "If John Cage ...

That brings up an interesting point...what is the definition of a "song" and why would #9 not be considered one?

I find that same head-shaking amazement when I learn Beatle songs. They were true song-craftsmen from the beginning to the end breaking new ground at nearly every turn. That's why the almost universal hatred of Revolution #9 always surprises me. As with other highly original Beatle compositions ...

"My schedule calls for bluebursts to go into production in about two weeks. First 4003's, then 360/12's, 330's, 360's, in that order."

Hmmm...maybe I'll change my order from a 360 to a 360/12 Image

Yesterday I spoke with the guitar store mgr who ordered my 360BBR. I mentioned Ben Hall's comments in the "Where are the Bluebursts" thread that some 360 and 4003 BBR's should move out in August. He told me that's more info than his RIC sales distributor has http://archives.rickresource.com/clipart ...

No problem...it was funny, when I began researching which Rik 12 model I was going to buy I noticed that the neck width between the 6 and 12 versions of the 330/360/620 were all the same. I was surprised that the 12's weren't a bit wider than their 6 string counterparts.

Guess that's part of the ...
