Re: 3 Byrds Covers

Wow, you guys are very, very good. You do have TTT down and those harmonies are right in there...close and smooth. The recordings are excellent.

Thanks for sharing.

He Was a Freind of Mine

The guitar Roger used in the original recording of He was a Friend of Mine, was it Crosby's D-18 6 string before it was converted to a 12? I could never determine if the song was played with a 6 or 12.

Thanks,

Ron

Re: Roger McGuinn in Davis Last Night

I'll second the thanks for the review. I only hope that he can come to Kansas City sometime.

Jim,
I wonder if he could fill up the Sprint Center  The last time he was here (that I know of) was around 2003 ..touring with Judy Colins...at the Starlight. It was good but I would like to ...

Peter, very glad to see the showcase. Now I need to get the 12 saddle bridge on my 370 and get on with it.

Chris,
Hey, I've been following your posts as well, and what the heck can I say? This is great stuff! Yes, Bells is indeed one of the BYRD's instrumental and vocal masterpieces...and maybe THE one. Why not add some bells to your take on it?...kind of a single large cathedral bell..a bout four ...

My back Pages....how did the BYRDS do it?

When I read the thread about Tribute Bands and the song My Back Pages... It reminded me of how I've was always tried to figure out what instruments the Byrds used on the instrumental section and how they did it... the organ and guitar...and what effects were used, if any? Did Roger use the Moog on ...

Well you may not agree with the age part, but think about it...34 years since a BYRDS re-union? That one didn't work too well according to Roger.Hmmm,it's not like the Stones where you've aged with the times...( I was referring to the BYDRS rather than Roger's solo performances)and I can tell ya if ...

I think it was Roger that once said " it would be like Dinosaurs on Parade"
Although I have wished for more of their music I'm sure if I had the independent ability of picking the folks I wanted to work with...I'd do it....especially with the clock ticking. If I made those kind of choices I would ...

I asked Crosby about a reunion a couple of years ago on his CPR site and he said He bought the BYRDS name back from the Clarke estate in hopes that Roger would do a re-union..and in his (Crosby)own words "he (Roger)just won't do it."
I would be happy if they would get together in the studio and cut ...

Jim, I live in Kansas also..about 25 miles south of Overland Park. If I had enough time to devote to a BYRDS tribute band I'd do it. Got too many irons in fire right now.

The BRYDZ...thanks Graham I enjoyed that link. I'd like to hear some of the Mockingbyrds too. One could only dream of doing something like that, a tribute band, hmmm..how about the Kansas Jaybryds? (now wouldn't that be cool if each state had a BYRDS trubute band named after the state byrd)...na ...
