yeah, I finally got a moment to take a look at John's headstock. Ver-Nice. My new one gotta have the circled R and "made in USA" per JH but if it looks like this one, it'll be way cool. Image

Dean,
I don't know what your preference is for 6 strings, but I'm strictly a Gretsch man. The new ones are made extremely well and sound great, IMO.

Alright Already!! or The Beauty of the 660/12

Yeah, Dean, i was only joking.
I love this guitar. My wife sez she doesn't like it in bed with us, but since I've got it on my side she's not threatening divorce.

Seriously, the 660/12 has immediately become a cherished member of the family. It comes to every gig w/me and gets it's fair share of ...

I've decided I'm just gonna drill a bunch of holes in the headstock. That should work, don't ya think?

I did a little research, thanks Peter. At 11 - 12k they're similar in resistance to the DeArmonds. Pity the pole pieces aren't adjustable, but neither are my toasters. Seems a few of our "friends" have them readily available at $75 each. I should just become a Rick Dealer - we don't have one in ...

UHhhh, you can WASH MF cloths? I didn't know they are reusable. That removes my moral objection. How are they on the nose? Image

thanks Bill.
With the strap on the hdstk still dives. If i use a wide leather strap the stock will only dive so far then the entire guitar shifts to the right side so the heel wants to be right in the center of my body.

I don't really believe my 660 is any different from anyone else's. But at 5 ...

PS. I like diapers much better than MF for various, including moral, reasons. And they do work very well on sunglasses and my reading spex, too. And you can blow your nose in them, and you can wipe up spills with them and you can wash them, etc., etc.

Jeffrey,
Is yours a short or long pole piece-type?
What is the measured resistance, too?
I'm considering it, thanks.

Other Pickups for the 660/12?

has anyone tried other pups in their 660/12? If so, which did you install and what was the result?

I do a lot of single note and double stop lead lines and am finding I prefer the depth and punch of the DeArmonds on my Gretsch to the Toasters. I tried using a compressor and am not happy with the ...

Heavy Headstock or Light Body?

Could it be the wood used in the body of my 660/12 is not as dense as that of other 660/12s?

I set my 660 on my right knee, leaning gently against my body in the playing position. I then let go of the neck and the headstock immediately falls toward the floor 'til it stops when the neck meets my ...
