Re: Rickenbacker 12 vs Gibson ES-335 12

Now there is the Rickenbacker 1993+ 12 with the wider neck, it just comes down to preferred tone, look and the Rick 12 better neck balance.
The Rickenbacker tone is Surreal, unlike anything else it reaches beyond being just a guitar tone.
End of story for me. 8)

Re: Rickenbacker, betting on the past to ensure their future

I read this type of thread and keep thinking Musicman and their persistent innovation. Recently looked at the new Valentine signature Namm Awarded, proof there is room for some new ideas. Those guys have balls :D and the best supply of quality birds eye maple in the world I would guess. Great ...

Re: 1993Plus!!!

The 1993 Plus is just about as perfect as a Rick 12 string could be for me.
As 660/12 players have known for decades, the neck is the perfect player, not to wide, but just right to pull all the open chords clean.
Still narrow enough not to cause over stretching for the lower strings and still good ...

Re: Is it gonna be a new model?

I recall many years back Rickenbacker (John) mentioned, the factory needed to make each discontinued model occasionally to help keep the copyright ownership of the design. I'm guessing this could be part of the reason for this one off.

Pete is no stranger to guitar repair and modification.
His own version of a rick ply semi hollow

However I'm loving the Rick 1993 plus, perhaps ...

Re: 1993Plus!!!

I'm still in shock.
After decades of requests for the wider neck on this iconic body shape and it ticks all the check boxes in other areas.
Awesome, biggest news from Rickenbacker ever, all 3mm.
I can hear a clean open C chord already...wow.

When will we hear the tale of how Pete was ...

Re: Boss Compression Sustainer SC-3 pedal

For the record, if anyone IS looking into a Boss compressor, I'd recommend seeking out the old CS-1, which has a 'Treble/Normal' switch. It is much superior (in my opinion at least) to the CS-2 and the treble lift allows you to jangle to your heart's content. I've used this compressor since I first ...

Re: Rickenbacker in australia

On a positive note, at least we may see some Ricks in the shop to try out.
I have only seen new Ricks on Oz shelves (Adelaide) once in 10 years just prior to the Bill Hyde/Allans bankruptcy.
Over this time we have all been well trained in Global purchasing.

Time will tell how the arrangement goes ...

Re: NAMM 2014

That's a beautiful guitar, I agreed the gold hardware looks great with Walnut.
"Manta" Is that a standard 380L converted to a 12 by a luthier or something the factory built, 1 3/4'' wide neck? WOW.
How clever.

After recently listening to an interview with Steve Howe, he mentions the ...

Re: NAMM 2014

Next question is the tone.
With the oil finish will they be more resonant, open and louder acoustically?
Awaiting the evaluation.

Re: NAMM 2014

Looks like it will be a like or hate situation from most of the comments thus far.
Would have liked to see the wide neck on the 12's like the Laguna but with the RCA look ie standard bridge.

Can't help thinking this finish would look best on a 4004, brown natural is definitely more popular in the ...
