I think I'd take a modern version over an original, even if that were MIDI pedals and an Arturia soft synth. It would stay in tune for one.

I play in Eb, always have. Tuning down is the only way to be able to execute the music I write on guitar, it would be physically impossible to play the parts in standard tuning in Eb - there would be no bottom.

When playing in Db or Bb I use a 5 string bass, I want low, not that wimpy high D or B ...

This is a pic of my 508. The surround for the 10 string would obviously be larger. What color is your 518, blonde or brunette? http://archives.rickresource.com/clipart/happy.gif

Once you get it put back together you should ...

I've had no issues with my GL, it plays and sounds great. I was a little worried about neck stability, but that hasn't been a problem. I did return the first one (under warranty, absolutely no problems with that) I got due to a warped neck, but the replacement has been perfect.

I tink option A would be your safest bet, but I wonder if those tuners will accomodate bass strings? I think that would be your challenge.

Option B would be a gamble that the headstock could handle the extra stress with more holes drilled in it.

Personally I'd just keep my eye out for a real ...

>Desolation Boulevard was their best album. It's the one that contained "Ballroom Blitz", "The 6-Teens", "Set Me Free", and "Fox On The Run".

Actually that is only the US version (Capitol) which is actually a compilation album - Set Me Free, No You Don't, Sweet F.A., Into the Night and AC/DC were ...

In Canada, UPS won't insure for damage if they don't pack it for you, which will cost about $100-150. This increases the ship volumetric weight as well.

You have to watch the so called "insurance" offered by the carriers. When I sold my 4003S5, the first thing I did was try to schedule a pickup from my home, with UPS' online calculator adding $50 for insurance. When I called about it, UPS said that even though they will happily take your money for ...

I agree with Niall. If you don't get the credit, simply forward the emails to your CC company and explain what happened.

PayPal does have the right to charge you a handling fee on chargebacks, however this seems pretty high. The US version is $25, but is only supposed to be applicable when the ...

Jim, the rhythm guitars would be Gibson Les Paul Classics, leads (all double tracked) are a combination of the LPs plus Fender fat strats with DiMarzio X2N/Super Distortion pickups, all run through a Marshall JMP 50W head/4x12 cabs.

I don't like this either. If I see there are a bunch of low feedback bidders, I'm not participating, since there is a high likelihood that they are schills. Same thing goes for the chippers, the ones who bid $5 at a time to jack the high bid.
