Re: What happened to my bridge pick-up???

I might of found the problem with the p-bass, will try a fix and mention it later. I talked with a tech at a bass shop in Sydney and he mentioned that it depends on the brand as to if loosing half will end up in full loss of signal due to the differenct way certain manufacturers make them.

Re: What happened to my bridge pick-up???

Well I opened her up last night, but nothing really jumped out as being out of place. All the connections look good, nothing appears to be shorting.

There is basically no difference (only slight) between the pot being pushed or pulled, so I am pretty sure it'll be a tone pot problem. Armed with a ...

Re: What happened to my bridge pick-up???

unless you've got a wiring problem, with the pot in, you should have the regular rick, thin rear pickup sound with less volume. with the pot pulled, you should get more volume and fuller sound from the rear pickup. this of course is when the selector is for the rear pickup only. make sure all the ...

Re: What happened to my bridge pick-up???

It has always dropped a lot of volume when the Treble tone pot has been pulled, is that not normal? With the tone pot in, the bridge pickup is not softer than what is was previously when the pot was pushed in.

I am running out the mono and was still getting the neck pickup fine. A bit of a wiggle ...

What happened to my bridge pick-up???

Morning all.

Last time I played my 4001, (which has the current 4003 wiring harness in it with the push/pull tone pot), my bridge pickup had greatly reduced output. Usually if both volume knobs are at the same level, it is dominant but this was not the case.

I plan to open it up this afternoon ...

Re: Help! Lots of hum!

I'll have a look at the grounding in the amp, although it isn't that old and the power lead looks in good nick.

Other grounding problems I have had in the past have been more obvious as you can touch the strings to ground it and it'll go quiet. It doesn't do it in this case though.

Re: 4001 sensitivity to different gauge strings?

OK, so it isn't that old! but it is older then me by 13 months... so it is all relative.

You're only as young as the bass you feel?
I think I'll give up on justifying age related comments now.

Re: 4001 sensitivity to different gauge strings?

Thanks for your input.

With stories I hear about old Ricky necks, I always want to err on the side of caution.

4001 sensitivity to different gauge strings?

Hi all

I currently have my '79 4001 set up for Rick brand strings (45 65 75 105) but the only sets that are close that I could get at short notice are 45 65 80/85 105. I know the necks were not as strong back then, but I am not aware of how sensitive they are to tension changes.

If I put 45 65 85 ...

Help! Lots of hum!

Hi all

I did a bit of a search (albeit a rushed one) trying to find someone with a similar problem but most people appear to have 'normal' hum noise.

I have a gig tomorrow night and have borrowed a mates amp (Ampeg... nice) since I only have a practice one (usually end up through a PA). When I ...

Re: Rickenbacker Register Now Online

In my noting of the 'one off' colours…I hope it didn't seem too critical of all the hard work done! I had written a longer post then lost it and I was in a bit of a rush so I did not re-write the entire thing.

The effort you guys go to is much appreciated!

I noticed that there are a large number of 'one-off' colours on the register due to typo's… Jetlgo for instance!

Re: Any Registrations From Oz?

Morning all, I'll put my '79 4001 on shortly. I'd love to trace its history. (I'm in Sydney by the way).

I think the last owners name was Christian and I know he traded it in to get a new 4001/3 in mapleglo at Trumps in North Sydney late in 2000 I think. (Either 4003 or a reissue 4001, can't ...

Need a Mute Assembly for my 4001!

Morning All

I'm a regular on the Ricky page but this is my first time on Rick Resource.

I have a 1979 4001 MG I got about 6-7 years back. It has some mods like SD replacement pickups and the like (and two thin racing stripes… I'll post a photo in a couple of weeks to show what they look like).

I ...
