Need a Mute Assembly for my 4001!

Post by ZHDriver »

Morning All

I'm a regular on the Ricky page but this is my first time on Rick Resource.

I have a 1979 4001 MG I got about 6-7 years back. It has some mods like SD replacement pickups and the like (and two thin racing stripes… I'll post a photo in a couple of weeks to show what they look like).

I have ordered a whole pile of bits to restore it to the original specs, I have two new pickups, wiring harness, jack plate wiring harness, new knobs etc. I have a new pick guard on the way. BUT… I don't have a mute assembly for under the tailpiece. Until I get one, all these new parts are lying around waiting :( There has been a long time since Rickenbacker has shipped spares to music stores and I don't know when they will again. I have not seen any on eBay either.

Does anyone here know where I could get one? It doesn't even need to be new, just good condition.

If anyone could help it'd make a Ricky fan a happy man!

Thanks

(Sorry about the double post, I pushed refresh on the browser and I think it made it submit twice!)

Welcome over here, Matt! I remember pointing you to the RIC Boutique, but they are out. Have you called Chris Clayton at Pick Of The Ricks to see if he has the parts? If you need all the parts, that would be two 05901 strap bolts/damper screws, two 06235 nylon washers, two 06117 springs, one 03803 foam pad, and one 01900 damper bar. The Boutique has all the parts but the damper and nylon washers.

Oh, and when you double post, if you look at one of the posts, you will have the choice to Quote, Edit, or X. The X will delete it.
