Re: New Lennon remastered and tweaked by Yoko Ono

I, for one, am extremely excited by this. John's voice was amazing in the 70's (as was little Paulie's), but the horrendous production on most of his albums dilutes that and makes strong songs ok, ok songs weak and weak songs...well...

When I heard the R-n-R cuts on the Lennon Anthology or Nobody ...

How Do You Do It Drumming ?

Listening again, in the car, and does anyone think there's any chance that's Andy White on drums there? It's very Un-Ringo-like playing, but for ONE fill. I know common knowledge is that Andy played on "Love Me Do" and until Anthology who knew there was a version of him playing PPM on TAPE w/the ...

Re: IS PAUL USING AUTO-TUNE!?!?!

Yes, auto-tune or pitch correction is very sophisticated these days...it's #1 in a lot of racks, before eq, compression, etc...

I do agree with bigbottom that it's naive to think these live albums aren't touched up....Paul is "spot on" on the Citi bootlegs I have (multiple sources of every night ...

Re: IS PAUL USING AUTO-TUNE!?!?!

Unfortunately, there are several existing bootlegs of the Citi shows....there is virtually no chance that Paul did not have the album cleaned up with some sort of pitch correction algo....simple a/b with some of the better bootlegs and there is a remarkable difference in the quality.

I know people ...

Re: Love Me Do

It's astonishing how awful Pete Best is on this take. He MUST have been nervous, because his timing, choice of "fills" and weak sound make his drumming on the Sheridan sessions look John Bonham-esque. It is no wonder George MArtin wanted him gone. He is completely incapable of keeping this song in ...

Re: Shea Stadium -- Could it have been better?

There is a recently released full version of the show - the entire thing, unedited and unenhanced. It's a remarkable document, because you can really hear the PRESSURE they were playing under. The screaming is relentless, the equipment appallingly inadequate, they're a bit sharp on nearly everything ...

Re: Sgt. Pepper 4 Track Master

I have this. It's SPLHCB, WALHFMF,She's Leaving Home and ADITL split up into 4 tracks. Probably done for the "Love" mastering. It's actually quite awesome - If you have a multitrack system like Pro-tools you can remix them, and the seperation is cool. Paulie's rocking vocal on SP, isolated without ...

Re: EVEN MORE ABBEY ROAD ERA PICS

"Little Willow" was written primarily for the CHILDREN (2 I believe) of Paulie's life long mate Ivan Vaughn, who died prematurely of Parkinson's disease. It was Ivan, we all remember, who introduced Paul to John at the fete and they remained friends through the long ride. Paul even let him use the ...

"STRAINED"

Does he NOT warm up before getting on stage? Is it just too risky for him to "use up" that much voice before a show.

I caught the Youtube vid of Hippy Hippy Shake....whoa.....ROUGH....immediately listened to the Star Club version afterward to restore my sanity

Re: Paul plays A Day In The Life in concert

It's moments like this when I love the guy. Although it saddens me to hear that shaky croak on the John lines. He seems to pull his voice back out for the GPAC refrains. Still, old Paul is better than no Paul. Old Paul is better than most anything. How did Hippy Hippy Shake sound? Anyone?

Re: Macca Live at the Cavern

Sounds like some vocal overdubbng was involved here. I have a copy of the show that does not sound like this....the ISHST is so flat it's painful. Nice to see him there and having fun...this his first performance after Linda died, no?

Re: "Love Me Do" recorded during "Let It Be"

I have it. It's pretty awful You're thinking of a take proper. John has no harmonica. Paul is just plunking along on his bass, singing in that mock-Elvis-Lady-Madonna voice with some occasional falsetto and I think John joins in here and there and it devolves in about a minute or two into "Two of Us ...
