Re: Slightly Off Topic - Need Ampeg Info
I've found the V4B gives me plenty of clean power with headroom, but I'm playing through 2 very efficient single 15"s - JB K145s. Modern cabs are made to take huge amounts of power and generally need more.

I've owned both.
I still own the V4B.
I don't know how loud you play, but it's a loud 100 watts.

Re: 4001 case
I've got mine in the old blue velvet lined case, but I made some shaped plastic-wrapped foam inserts to hold it securely and keep it from rattling around in there.

Re: Some Pics of my '71 FG
I thought that would be something fairly common here! I remember getting one with my first JG in '72 - same sheet. I'll have to bring it into work to scan it - will try to this week.

I don't have a clue. The original owner didn't say anything about changing it, but it's certainly possible.brycycle wrote:Bob, (or whomever) - is that pick-up selector switch original? reference Bob's photo #: 744800174b05442 thanks-
It does work fine.

I'm starting to think I should up my insurance on this thing. Should I post it over at the appraisal section? I would need some ducumentation of value, but an opinion there might be acceptable.

I didn't photograph it, but it's in the original case, I've got the PU cover, and the original 1-sheet trussrod adjustment instructions.

I feels like some sort of soft putty. The switch works OK, so I've left well enough alone.rickaddict wrote:Nice, Bob. Thanks for the pics. Beautiful bass.
Switch looks like a replacement to me. And what's the green stuff on the back of the switch and wiring?Kinda looks like chewing gum!

Re: Some Pics of my '71 FG
Beauty, where did you find her.
I bought it from the original owner in '94. He worked in the studio we were recording in - he bought it in high school and gigged it for a few years, then kind of morphed into a keyboard player. My camera doesn't do macro so I couldn't get a closeup of the frets ...

Re: New to forum
Hi Kev - my bass is KA017. Looks just like yours, but my thumbrest is long gone.
Cool, a Jan '71! Mine is a Feb (KB 053).
Tony C's '71 is a March and no 21st fret.
Does yours have the small strip of binding at the end of the fretboard near the pickguard or is it bare wood?
That's a feature that ...
