Re: 4002 on UK ebay

Let's face it, most vintage guitars have been overpriced and it's the beginning of a economic depression.

Now I'd like a bezel exactly like that in black.

Re: Lemmy's modded bass

I sympathise with Lemmy and his basses. It's music and rock & roll, the Sex Pistols offended in the 70's, it's fashion and we all still like 'em.

Re: One For the Lefty History Books?

This has got to be the "holy grail" of vintage lefty Ric basses...correct?

It'll be interesting to see how the auction ends. Someone here should nab it!!!

I'd prefer to find a Lefty 4002.

That would fall into the "fantasy bass" catagory Joe. I don't think that a lefty 4002 exists.

Ahh, it ...

Never understood why they couldn't stamp all the writing so it will last.

Re: A New One For Your Book, Paul

It is likely that the book will be self-published, and when it's done, will be available electronically (that doesn't mean FREE), and in print (to order). I probably won't make money on it, but I don't intend to spend my retirement funds on it, either.

I'd suggest having a well laid out ...

Re: Removing Mute Pad

I'm super excited to do the mod once I get my insurence money to get a new ric. I'm mostly gonna use it for when I use distortion but I wonder how it will sound clean. Do you think the Pickup will make tapping harmonics come through alot clearer with distortion on it?

It might do, but it won't ...

I don't believe that's true. He played Aria basses alright, mostly the black SB-1000s but not Ric copies. He had the Ric long before he started using Aria basses.

I believe it was activated by a push/pull feature on one of the knobs, that is what his guitar tech Chuck Martin says.

I believe he only used the special pickup during solos. You don't need a special pickup on a 4001 to get that growly sound on Ride the Lightning.

Re: Cliff Burton - Mute Pad Removal/Strat Pickup

They aren't stacked. The strat pick-up is where the foam mute (under the top end of the chrome bridge between the 2 thumb screws) used to be before he had the mute removed so the pick-up is now hidden from general view but the strings still go over the pick-up's poles.

Are those the original keywinds?
Yes they look like the original keywinds as all 4002 had this type rather than the ones you see on 4003s.
